The procedure is simple. Before going to sleep take a thermometer and shake it until the temperature is lower than 35C. The following morning put the thermometer under your armpit immediately after waking up. Be sure there are no clothes between the thermometer and your hand. Let the thermometer stay there for 10 minutes.

Afterwards, see the results and write them down immediately. This is called the early morning basal temperature, and the normal levels are between 36.5 and 36.8

There can be variations in the temperature of women who have some infections or who have periods. Therefore, before doing this test make sure you are perfectly healthy.

The test results

If the body temperature is 36.5 and 36.8 than your thyroid gland is working properly.
If the temperature is below 36.5, then it is a sign of underactive thyroid gland. The symptoms of hypothyroidism include chronic headaches, poor memory and concentration, hair loss, lack of energy, depression and fatigue.
If your body temperature is higher than 36.8, it can be an indication for hyperthyroidism or infection in the body. For more accurate results, do the test 3 days in a row. If your body temperature is constantly above or below normal, you should consult your doctor for further diagnosis.
