HERE IS HOW TO DEAL WITH THE HEADACHE

Don’t rush to reach for drugs

Drinking pills may temporarily calm down and solve the problem of headaches, but if it is chronic or frequent and you start to have migraines, you need a long-term and solid strategy.

The Director of the New York Headache Center, Dr. Alexander Mauskop has a few ideas on how to deal with the unpleasant pain in the head and it permanently and efficiently stop it.

Exercise

Regular exercise and sweating significantly reduce headaches and migraines, claims the expert. The reason is that when you do sports the body releases endorphins which block the pain receptors. It’s enough to spend 30 minutes 3 times a week to do some exercises (jogging or intense cardio) to get rid of the unpleasant headache.

Eat nuts and green vegetables

Magnesium is a very good remedy for headaches and migraines. The recommended daily dose for adults is 400 mg. It is found in spinach, Brazil nuts, almonds.

Reduce coffee

Caffeine helps promote headaches, said Dr. Mauskop. Many of his patients have realized that when they drink some coffee in the morning, they experience severe headaches in the afternoon. If you still want to drink this bitter beverage, try not to take more than 1 cup a day.

Get enough sleep

Even a few hours of sleep less in one night, may cause headache the next day. Lack of rest makes the brain more sensitive and susceptible to migraines.

Rest

Try not to do anything for at least 20 minutes a day. Better yet, if you can meditate. Meditation has been proven to cure migraine and prevents stress (one of the major causes of headache).

Stretch and massage your neck

Sounds strange? It’s actually quite logical. Sitting in front of the computer often leads to harming not only the back but also the neck. This in turn leads to compression of the nerve endings in the brain and unlocking of migraine and headache.

Be sure to walk around a bit when you are sitting behind the desk and stretch every 2 hours.
