Nausea, Vomiting, Headache – Symptoms, Diagnosis, Prevention – All About Stroke
The stroke is characterized by sudden blood circulation loss in the brain area, resulting in a corresponding loss of neurological function.
Signs And Symptoms
The stroke is presented with neurological deficits or altered level of consciousness. After the symptoms occur, the stroke could either be ischemic orhemorrhagic.Nausea, vomiting, headache and sudden changes in the level of consciousness are much more common with the hemorrhagic stroke.
Diagnosis
Emergency brain imaging is necessary to confirm the diagnosis of stroke. Non-opaque computer tomography (CT) is the most commonly used form of neuroimaging in the acute evaluation of patients with an apparent stroke.
Treatments for stroke can be: fibrinolytic, antiplatelet therapy and mechanical thrombectomy.
Prevention
The primary brain prevention refers to the treatment of individuals with no previous history of stroke. The measures may include the use of the following: antiplatelet therapy, statins, exercise, lifestyle changes (stopping smoking, moderate alcohol intake).
Secondary prevention refers to the treatment of individuals who already have had a stroke. The measures may include use of the following: antiplatelet therapy, antihypertensives, statins, and lifestyle change.
