WHAT is Gonorrhea and HOW is it transmitted?
Gonorrhea is sexually transmitted bacterial infection which is caused by the gram-negative bacterium known as Neisseria Gonorrhea. The most susceptible risk groups are sexually active people aged between 15-29.
Another way of transmission is when an infected mother passes the infection to the newborn baby during childbirth. This can lead to eye, throat or mouth infection.
WHAT ARE THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS?
Gonorrhea has different clinical picture for men and women.
Women
The symptoms in women vary depending on the body part which is infected.
Gonorrhea infection of the lower urogenital organs.
Generally, Neisseria Gonorrhea attacks the lining of the cervix, although it can occur in other parts of the genital tract:
Symptoms:
Frequent urination and dysuria (burning sensation and difficulty urinating).
Increased secretion of yellow or yellowish-green discharge. In certain cases, leaching may be discolored. Therefore, if you have an increased secretion of mucus, make a gynecological examination.
Gonorrhea infection of the upper genital organs
The infection can spread on the upper part of the genital tract, affecting the ovaries, the body of the uterus and the Fallopian tubes. In this case, the symptoms are more severe:
Absence of menstruation, scarce bleeding
Sudden cramps and pain in the lower abdomen
Increased body temperature
Malaise
Nausea and vomiting
Absence of appetite

Men
Inflammation followed by swelling and redness
Dysuria (tingling and difficulty urinating)
Purulent secretions
Testicular hypersensitivity
If not properly treated, the infection can affect the upper part of the genitourinary tract and lead to incidence of blood in the urine, inflammation of the prostate and epididymis.
How to protect yourself?
First of all, you should consult your doctor for proper therapy, but also you should avoid bitter, spicy or acidic foods. It is strictly forbidden the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes. Consume more fruits, vegetables and chicken meat.
You should also drink plenty of tea, and consume more salads based on carrots and beets, especially for lunch and dinner.
